TCU Financial Group $100,000 Acts of Kindness

As part of TCU Financial Group’s ongoing commitment to support the communities in which we live and work, staff set out on a project during December 2018 to positively impact organizations that are at the forefront of caring for individuals and families in need.

“Fostering healthier communities is baked right into our mission statement,” says George Greenwood, CEO of TCU Financial Group. “We are proud of the impact we can make in our community, thanks to our staff and loyal TCU Financial Group members. This holiday season our staff led an initiative to find ways to support our community in four key areas of Access to Food, Kids & Youth, Members with Financial Needs, and Vulnerable Members in our Community. We’ve been able to lend a hand to seven deserving charities as part of our larger $100,000 Acts of Kindness Project.”

As a result of our project, we are happy to lend a hand to seven amazing organizations that support our communities in such extraordinary ways. Help us recognize the good work of REACH Regina, Sofia House Regina, YWCA of Regina, CHEP Good Food Inc. Saskatoon, Saskatoon Society for the Protection of Children (Saskatoon Crisis Nursery & Saskatoon Parent Aide), and Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan.

Access to Food: In Saskatoon, we provided $15,000 to support CHEP Good Food’s Centralized Kitchen Program – this translates into nearly 4,000 lunches for schools with students in need.
In Regina, we provided REACH with $10,000 to hit their target to purchase a much needed van which will be used to make deliveries of their food around Regina.

Kids & Youth: TCU was able to fulfill Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Christmas wish list, spending approximately $5,000 on items needed to surprise the families staying with them over Christmas. TCU also provided $5,000 worth of items for the children (siblings) of families to take with them after their stay at RMH.

Additionally, we donated $10,000 to the YWCA of Regina to purchase a vehicle to support their shelter program.

Vulnerable Members in our Communities: TCU donated $10,000 to Sofia House in Regina to put towards a vehicle purchase as well, reliable transportation at the House allows those staying at the house access to support and health care needs outside of the house.

The Saskatoon Society for the Protection of Children (SSPC) will receive $12,500 towards the Crisis Nursery and Parent Aide programs. The Crisis Nursery is a 24-7 emergency home, serving over 1,000 children a year whose families are in crisis. The Parent Aide program provides in-home intensive support to over 250 at-risk families a year to help them maintain custody and parent in a healthy way. The TCU Financial Group funding is earmarked for building capacity and expansion of outreach support for struggling families.

Members with Financial Needs: Twelve members were selected from names that were nominated across MemberLine, Collections, and Account Managers. TCU was able to connect with all of these members and the impact has been tangible to both members and staff. Through mortgage and bill payments, TCU has responded with creativity to help members reduce the pressure and anxiety around the holiday season. The total dollar impact will be $25,036
